It can be a daunting task trying to find a good quality, good value painting contractor!  Brisbane has lots of different contractors ranging from well established large companies, to fly-by-night style, sole operators.

We recommend you avoid these three mistakes when choosing a painting contractor to paint your house:

Finding A Painting Contractor – Brisbane Based.  Mistake #1:

“Go for the cheapest quote you get.”

Now this may seem like the logical thing you should do, but remember that cheapest is not always the best value in the long term.  Your house is most probably your biggest asset, and in Brisbane, with real estate prices escalating, the quality of paint job, and the appearance of your house can make a huge difference to its value.

This is not something you want to risk a shoddy job with.  Spending an extra 10 or 20% for a quality job may well be an extremely worthwhile investment.

Finding A Painting Contractor – Brisbane Based.  Mistake #2:

“Being vague about what you want done”

It’s very important that you think through clearly what you want done by the painting contractor.  If you aren’t it can make the quote more expensive for you or worse still, end up in an ugly dispute after completion.

Grab a piece of paper and take the time to write down what you are expecting to be done.  Go into each room, or inspect each section of the externals of your house, and write down what your expectations are.  Then go over what you’ve written and test it as if you were having to resolve a dispute.  Are your words clear enough?

Finding A Painting Contractor – Brisbane Based.  Mistake #3:

“Not checking out reputation”

You can achieve a lot, and potentially save yourself some angst by simply asking for some examples of previous work done by the painting contractor.  Brisbane requires certain standards of tradespeople generally, so you can also find help from associations like the Master Builders Association, or the Master Painters Association.

Inspect several examples of the contractors’ work before you commit to engage them, and this can save you much grief!
